Electric Blanket's strangely naive but not so innocent ear-candy «I Never Ate That Bird» is the first of a series of 7inch-vinyl-singles (also available as digital download). It is also the first release by the newborn collaboration of Bussi Records & Wankdorf Recordings.

This song is typical for Electric Blanket's very own mixture of indie pop and electronic influences. It starts with Helenka's enthusiastic fanfare-like whistling-intro, accompanied by the intimate clacking of a casio-keyboard. In the following a story of seemingly unclouded easiness unfolds.
Helenka's seductive singing is nestled in a bed of beautiful muted & strummed guitars, warm analog-pads and spooky 80ies-synths. The straight forward live drums along with a bunch of lo-fi-drum-samples still reflect that this song was originally written with a simple kids-keyboard only.

All together «I Never Ate That Bird» creates a very uplifting, propulsive state of easiness, that makes you smile for the rest of the day. Despite all the easiness there's the seed of doubt in it. What really happened to that bird?

Remix by «Round Table Knights»
On the singles b-side the notorious «Round Table Knights» take control of «I Never Ate That Bird» and create a «perfect for the dancefloor» disco-indie-pop piece. It comprises exactly the same kind of relaxed euphoria that the «Round Table Knights» are so well known and loved for as a DJ-Crew.
The remix is made up of a tasty selection of guitar- and vocal-elements from the original song together with wounderful newly recorded instruments. In the first drumbreak the track celebrates the art of maximum impact with minimal gestures. From here on free will no longer exists. In the breakdown the track surprisingly opens up to a wide warm space with xylophone and pianoelements. Then full beat is brought back to perform a insistent grooving finale.

The 7-inch-Vinyl-Single-Series
When it came to the issue of how to release the new songs «Electric Blanket» felt that the cd, as an object, lost its mojo a long time ago and couldn't live up to the love they put in their music. So in the end it was only natural to release the music in two ways: on the one hand as a series of 7-inch-vinyl-singles with their heart-warming, cuddly look and feel, and then again, the music in its bodiless, speaking for itself form as digital download. And with the saucy style of young swiss graphic designers «Foederation», the perfect pictorial translation for the series has been found.
So now radio stations will definitively have a good reason to set up a turntable in their studios again!
